From that location, you'll begin your investigation of how the Unova setting has changed since the events of two years ago. And you'll catch lots of Pokemon and fight gym leaders and stuff.<br /><br />Nintendo also sent out the new box arts, allowing you to see Black Kyurem and White Kyurem facing each other down just as they will on retail shelves. Unless they're shelved in a different order, in which case they'll be defiantly facing away from each other.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-black-2-and-white-2-5-15-12/">Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 (5/15/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-black-2-and-white-2-5-15-12/#5024790"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/aspertia1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-black-2-and-white-2-5-15-12/#5024791"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/aspertia2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-black-2-and-white-2-5-15-12/#5024792"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/aspertia3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-black-2-and-white-2-5-15-12/#5024797"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/pokemonb2w21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-black-2-and-white-2-5-15-12/#5024798"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/pokemonb2w22_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/15/welcome-to-pokemon-black-white-version-2s-scenic-aspertia-city/">Welcome to Pokemon Black/White Version 2's scenic Aspertia City</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 May 2012 20:00:00 EST. A source speaking to <a href="http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/5/14/3020671/activision-pays-42m-to-former-infinity-ward-devs-not-a-settlement">Polygon</a> said that the payment was not a settlement; rather, Activision's discovery phase (for its own lawsuit against former Infinity Ward leads Jason West and Vince Zampella) found no evidence that the Employee Group members were complicit in the breach-of-contract issues for which Activision is suing, and so Bobby Kotick and Activision agreed to pay them.<br /><br />That group sought $75 million to $125 million, plus punitive damages. IWEG attorney Bruce Isaacs told Polygon that "although it is a meaningful payment it is only a small portion of what we are seeking in litigation." And it is still going forward with said litigation. Isaacs said the payment was a "cynical attempt to look good before the jury trial."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/15/activision-pays-42-million-to-infinity-ward-employee-group/">Activision pays $42 million to Infinity Ward Employee Group</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 May 2012 09:30:00 EST. At least one version of each game in the series is available.<br /><br />In non-interactive news, Dinosaur Office returns to Nintendo Video tomorrow.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/nintendoware-weekly-monster-world-iv/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Monster World IV</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/nintendoware-weekly-monster-world-iv/">NintendoWare Weekly: Monster World IV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 May 2012 15:00:00 EST. With Nintendo no longer a hurdle, Rohrer is now seeking <a href="http://kickstarter.com/projects/1443658586/diamond-trust-of-london">Kickstarter</a>-based pre-orders to actually manufacture the game, a first for a retail DS game.<br /><br />"As I faced Nintendo's large manufacturing minimum, a serious question arose: how many people in the world would want to play it?" Rohrer said in the explanation of his Kickstarter drive. "Kickstarter is a perfect way to answer that question."<br /><br />To get the game, you must contribute at least $35. At $55, you get one of 1,000 limited-edition copies, with mysterious special items included. "I've decided to keep the nature of these special inclusions secret as a surprise," Rohrer said, "since every package will have a unique collection of special items in it." As always, the bonuses get ever more extravagant from there.<br /><br />All you <em>need</em>, though, is one copy of the game. You can play multiplayer from a single cartridge using Download Play. "There is one minor benefit to playing with two cartridges," Rohrer noted: "both players can hear their own, separate, generated music (the music is too big to send to the downloading player during DS Download Play)."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/jason-rohrer-trusting-kickstarter-for-diamond-trust-of-london-pr/">Jason Rohrer trusting Kickstarter for Diamond Trust of London pre-orders</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 May 2012 12:00:00 EST. Starting May 20, Nintendo is dropping the MSRP of the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/dsi">DSi</a> to $99.99 (from $150), and the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/dsi-xl">DSi XL</a> to $129.99 (from $170). Finally, the DSi XL will be cheaper than the 3DS - which launches in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/30/nintendos-midnight-purple-3ds-made-official-eggplanting-at-r/">new color</a> the same day!<br /><br />If you don't have a device that can play DSiWare, a $100 DSi opens you up to a variety of great games - especially now that the platform has had a few years to slowly build a library. Yes, there are worthwhile games on DSiWare - like <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/shantae-riskys-revenge">Shantae: Risky's Revenge</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/cave-story">Cave Story</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/art-style-pictobits/">Pictobits</a></em>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/31/portabliss-antipole-dsiware/"><em>Antipole</em></a>, to name a few.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/dsi-drops-to-100-dsi-xl-drops-to-130-may-20/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DSi drops to $100, DSi XL drops to $130 May 20</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/dsi-drops-to-100-dsi-xl-drops-to-130-may-20/">DSi drops to $100, DSi XL drops to $130 May 20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 May 2012 09:15:00 EST. This is a 23 percent drop over the same period in 2011, where Activision Blizzard posted a net revenue of $1.44 billion. Net income (post-tax/expenses profit) was also down year over year, with the pub/dev reporting a remainder of $384 million for Q1 2012, as compared with $503 million in Q1 2011.<br /><br />Breaking that down a little more specifically, Activision itself was responsible for 23 percent ($271 million) of segment net revenues, down 19 percent form the $323 million it was responsible for in 2011. Blizzard accounted for 21 percent ($251 million) of segmented net revenues, down 42 percent year-over-year vs. the $357 million it posted for Q1 2011.<br /><br />Many of Activision and Blizzard's major releases are still pending, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Diablo-3"><em>Diablo 3</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/world-of-warcraft-mists-of-pandaria"><em>World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops-2"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops 2</em></a>. Looking forward, Activision Blizzard expects to report a "record" non-GAAP Q2 net revenue of $805 million due to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/prototype-2"><em>Prototype 2</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/amazing-spider-man"><em>Amazing Spider Man</em></a> and <em>Diablo 3</em>. As for the rest of the year, the company expects to end fiscal 2012 to the tune of $4.2 billion in net revenue.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/activision-blizzard-q1-2012-financials-1-17-billion-in-net-rev/">Activision Blizzard Q1 2012 financials: $1.17 billion in net revenue, down year-over-year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 May 2012 17:15:00 EST. And that original game has now surpassed 20 million play sessions, The Behemoth has <a href="http://devblog.thebehemoth.com/2012/05/08/a-milestone-for-alien-hominid/">announced</a>.<br /><br />The brain child of Tom Fulp and Dan Paladin, <em>Alien Hominid</em> was built in Flash and released on Newgrounds way back in 2002. It would eventually be ported to the GameCube and PS2 in 2004 (and Europe would see Xbox and GameBoy Advance ports), then to Xbox Live Arcade in 2007. Currently, The Behemoth is working on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/battleblock-theater"><em>Battleblock Theater</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/alien-hominid-has-been-played-20-million-times-on-newgrounds/">Alien Hominid has been played 20 million times on Newgrounds</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 May 2012 04:00:00 EST. The company reported strong sales of its games from the last year, including <em>Samurai Warriors 3 Empires, Winning Post 7 2012</em>, and games it co-developed for other publishers, including <em>One Piece Pirate Musou</em> and <em>Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition</em>.<br /><br />Specifically, Tecmo said it shipped 630,000 copies of <em>Ninja Gaiden 3</em> worldwide. In addition, Tecmo reported that it completed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/07/tecmo-purchasing-atelier-developer-gust/">acquisition of Gust</a> in December, a developer that should expand its mobile and online business. The company also plans to grow its revenues in this fiscal year by releasing launch games for unspecified hardware (likely the Wii U if it's something launching this year).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/08/tecmo-koei-reports-increased-revenue-in-fiscal-2012-ninja-gaide/">Tecmo Koei reports increased revenue in fiscal 2012, Ninja Gaiden 3 ships 630K</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 May 2012 21:30:00 EST. The answer, it seems, is to build a Garbage Princess, which Finn and Jake have to then rescue for some reason. Maybe they just want to beat up the Ice King again.<br /><br />D3Publisher officially announced the game today, announcing plans to release both DS and 3DS versions this fall. Players will get to control both Finn and Jake through "a unique action-adventure experience" designed in collaboration with Pendleton Ward, creator of the show. D3 has yet to release any screens, but we'll be sure to let you know when you can <em>see</em> the garbage for yourself.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/adventure-time-hey-ice-king-why-d-you-steal-our-garbage-concept-doodles/">Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! The user can then pick which route he'd like to take, reading tourist facts along the way.<br /><br />Nintendo has already infiltrated the museum scene with the 3DS giving guided tours in the Louvre, and it's doing a pretty great job, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/19/touring-the-louvre-with-a-3ds/">from what we hear</a>. There's no guarantee that a patent will translate to an actual product, but the thousands of infrared beams hovering over the Mona Lisa fulfills a few of our own spy fantasies, so we'll hope this one works out in some way.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/06/miyamotos-ds-patent-offers-upgraded-tourist-hunting-techniques/">Miyamoto's DS patent offers upgraded tourist hunting techniques</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 May 2012 15:30:00 EST. What is going <em>on</em>? On top of the VC release of <em>Super Hang-On</em>, <em>Amoebattle</em> makes its way to DSiWare and <em>Bird Mania 3D</em> takes flight on the 3DS eShop.<br /><br />We rather liked the iPhone version of <em>Amoebattle</em>. But <em>Pokemon Conquest</em>, which released in Japan last month as <em>Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition</em>, takes itself so seriously as a strategy role-playing game that it isn't the irreverent experience I made it out to be in my mind.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-conquest-5-2-2012/">Pokemon Conquest (5/2/2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-conquest-5-2-2012/#4998959"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/battlefield-lava-camp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-conquest-5-2-2012/#4998960"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/hideyoshi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-conquest-5-2-2012/#4998961"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/motochika_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-conquest-5-2-2012/#4998962"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/motonari-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pokemon-conquest-5-2-2012/#4998963"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/pikachuuuuu_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/02/the-insatiable-need-to-dominate-in-pokemon-conquest/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The insatiable need to dominate in Pokemon Conquest</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/02/the-insatiable-need-to-dominate-in-pokemon-conquest/">The insatiable need to dominate in Pokemon Conquest</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 May 2012 16:00:00 EST. Nintendo has been checking out the master revision of <em>Diamond Trust of London</em> since October 2011, and now, seven months later, it's approved for lift off. And publishing. Mostly publishing.<br /><br />Rohrer says the lengthy process has a "non-disclosure-agreement-shrouded story" and that "negotiations" were involved, but <em>Diamond Trust of London</em> is now officially ready to roll, with one major catch: the title. It is now officially called <em>Jason Rohrer with Music by Tom Bailey: Diamond Trust of London</em>, a change that was necessary for Nintendo's approval. Updates about publication are coming soon, Rohrer promises.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/01/diamond-trust-of-london-was-in-nintendo-approval-for-seven-month/">Diamond Trust of London was in Nintendo approval for seven months</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 May 2012 22:00:00 EST. The company let loose a variety of predictions for the current fiscal year (ending March 31, 2013) this week, which predicts movement of 18.5 million 3DS units into consumers' backpacks and purses worldwide.<br /><br />That's not a huge increase from the console's first fiscal year (April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012), which saw 17.13 million 3DS units sold. And with big hitters like <em>New Super Mario Bros. 2 </em>and <em>Animal Crossing </em>on the way, it seems likely that Nintendo will surpass those numbers and get to "adjust" their forecast upwards come investor call time. "Ooops, we made way more money than we expected," Nintendo head Satoru Iwata might tell investors, with a coy smile. "Please forget about last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/26/nintendo-reports-461-2-million-in-losses-for-fiscal-2011/">major financial issues</a>." At least that's how we picture these things going.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/27/nintendo-expects-to-double-3ds-sales-by-this-time-next-year/">Nintendo expects to double 3DS sales by this time next year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Apr 2012 10:30:00 EST. The actual results, with net sales of &yen;647 billion ($8 billion!) were &yen;12.3 billion lower than forecasted. The full-year loss was 37.3 billion yen ($461.2 million).<br /><br />Nintendo said its effort to boost 3DS sales was successful, and that software sales were slower than expected in the US and Europe over the holidays. In addition, the reduced selling price of both the Wii and the 3DS, and, of course, the strong yen, contributed to the losses. The 3DS was actually dropped below cost in the 2011 price cut, the financial report reveals.<br /><br />By the middle of the next fiscal year (the one that started April 1), Nintendo expects to stop selling 3DS below cost - we assume not by raising prices, but by reducing production costs. They use different keyboard layouts and <em>everything</em>, which can make understanding the media somewhat of a challenge.<br /><br />Some things however, like this latest trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/pokemon-black-2-white-2"><em>Pokemon Black and White 2</em></a>, transcend the man-made boundaries of language by communicating on a far more primal, emotional level. Debuted during last night's Nintendo Direct event in Japan, the above trailer showcases tons of gameplay, what appears to be a water-type gym and a bunch of words we don't understand.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/21/peep-the-latest-japanese-trailer-for-pokemon-black-and-white-2/">Peep the latest Japanese trailer for Pokemon Black and White 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 21 Apr 2012 22:30:00 EST. The last we heard of a potential sequel to the teenager-infused romp through Shibuya was in August of 2010, when series artist Tetsuya Nomura said "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/09/nomura-definitely-wants-to-make-a-the-world-ends-with-you-sequ/">I definitely want to make a sequel</a>."<br /><br />Fast-forward about a year, and <em>The World Ends With You</em> protagonist Neku is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/15/the-world-ends-with-you-character-spotted-in-kingdom-hearts-3d/">spotted as one of the many cameos</a> during <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kingdom-hearts-3d-dream-drop-distance"><em>Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance</em></a>'s Tokyo Game Show demo. Now, Nomura has said that <em>TWEWY</em> supporting character Raimu, who never spoke during the original game, will also be in <em>Kingdom Hearts 3D</em> and will be fully voice acted "out of consideration of the future of The World Ends With You series," according to an interview translated by <a href="http://andriasang.com/con0r9/subarashiki_sequel_hints/">Andriasang</a>.<br /><br />If that weren't powerfully tantalizing on its own, Nomura also said that "there probably is something" coming in the series' future, though he couldn't speak in specifics at the time. He also laughed mid-sentence, according to the translation, although there's no context provided to indicate whether the laugh was the playful chuckle of an appreciative artist, or the maniacal cackling of a man manipulating the hearts of thousands. Without this vital context clue, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/21/square-enix-hints-nudges-and-winks-about-the-world-ends-with-yo/">Square Enix hints, nudges and winks about The World Ends With You sequel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 21 Apr 2012 16:30:00 EST. Attempts have been made to move the genre to other platforms in the past, some more successful than others, but demanding complexity and mouse-centered control schemes have typically kept it from flourishing elsewhere. Enter <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/amoebattle"><em>Amoebattle</em></a>, a real-time strategy game for iOS (with a DSiWare version on the way next month). Cute though it may be, the heart of real-time strategy definitely beats below its adorable exterior.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/20/portabliss-amoebattle-ios-dsiware/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Portabliss: Amoebattle (iOS, DSiWare)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/20/portabliss-amoebattle-ios-dsiware/">Portabliss: Amoebattle (iOS, DSiWare)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2012 21:30:00 EST. Technically, it's noon EST tomorrow, April 21, but folks in the US can expect announcements from the Japanese feed starting at 8:30 p.m. PST tonight, Friday, April 20. The European announcements will hit at 1 p.m. CET (4 a.m. PST), April 21.<br /><br />Nintendo hasn't revealed what it will discuss tonight, but it has left us a trail of clues. CEO Satoru Iwata sent out invitations to this weekend's Nintendo Direct on 3DS' Spot Pass, showing him with a giant, suspicious Kirby plushie. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kid-icarus-uprising"><em>Kid Icarus: Uprising</em></a>'s Masahiro Sakurai tweeted to expect <em>Uprising </em>news and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/theatrhythm-final-fantasy"><em>Theatrhythm Final Fantasy</em></a>'s Masanobu Suzui suggested fans should watch the feed, <a href="http://andriasang.com/con0ra/nintendo_direct_iwata_message/">Andriasang</a> translates.<br /><br />We'll have our eyes and fingertips ready to roll for any breakout <em>Kirby-Kid-Icarus-Theatrhythm</em> crossover news tonight, because really, it's not like we had any <em>plans </em>on a Friday night or anything.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/20/nintendo-direct-time-travels-with-news-tonight-tomorrow-yester/">Nintendo Direct time travels with news tonight, tomorrow, yesterday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2012 19:00:00 EST. No WiiWare, no Virtual Console, not even a demo. Troubling!<br /><br />Meanwhile, on 3DS, the highlighted game is something that's actually been available at GameStop for almost a month, and elsewhere as a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/19/3d-classics-kid-icarus-is-a-pre-order-bonus-for-uprising/">pre-order bonus</a>: <em>3D Classics Kid Icarus</em>. If you didn't think the 3DS game was bizarre enough, you should check out this nicely updated version of the NES original to see how weird Nintendo can get.<br /><br />Nintendo would also like you to know that a new season of <a href="http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/nintendo-video/detail/0SsoKazcqpKJd9oIBmasEBj6KxwffKrP"><em>Dinosaur Office</em></a> will premiere on Nintendo Video tomorrow.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/19/nintendoware-weekly-3d-classics-kid-icarus/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: 3D Classics: Kid Icarus</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/19/nintendoware-weekly-3d-classics-kid-icarus/">NintendoWare Weekly: 3D Classics: Kid Icarus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Apr 2012 11:00:00 EST. Remake <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_of_Ages"><em>Oracle of Ages/Seasons</em></a>? Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto wouldn't mind coming back to <em>A Link to the Past</em>.<br /><br />Miyamoto said he'd be "interested in creating something new maybe based on, or starting from, <em>A Link To The Past</em>" in an interview with <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/miyamoto-keen-new-link-past">Edge</a>. "I think it's important to bring some really new software." It shouldn't come as a surprise, since he's already said <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/22/miyamoto-would-most-like-to-see-a-link-to-the-past-remake-on-3ds/">he wants to see a remake on 3DS</a>, but there's a big hurdle in his way. With his work on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/06/miyamoto-working-on-an-unannounced-original-game/">an original game</a> ongoing the impending <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/wii-u/">Wii U</a> launch, time must be a very precious commodity at Nintendo nowadays.<br /><br />"To be very honest and open, it really depends on the directors that have time at the moment as well," he said. "Some directors, I can give them the title and I know they will do something great with it. Other directors I'm not so 100 percent confident [in], so they're the ones I'd rather take a more remake approach to the title. It really depends on that as well."<br /><br />It seems if Miyamoto is confident in a director, he'll give them free reign to produce whatever their vision is. A remake, on the other hand, is considered more appropriate for less experienced directors - no offense to Grezzo, who did most of the work on <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-3d/">The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D</a>.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/12/miyamoto-interested-in-revisiting-a-link-to-the-past/">Miyamoto interested in revisiting A Link to the Past</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Apr 2012 21:00:00 EST. Breaking that total down further, hardware sales accounted for $323.5 million (down 35 percent) while non-PC software sales contributed $553.1 million (down 25 percent) and accessories chipped in $222.5 million (down eight percent).<br /><br />March marked the Xbox 360's thirteenth consecutive month of accounting for over 40 percent of total console sales, selling <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/aarongreenberg/status/190562203898871808">371,000 units</a>. It was also the console's fifteenth month as best selling console, and eighth month as best selling overall hardware platform.<br /><br />Predictably, <em>Mass Effect 3</em> topped sales charts for the period, selling twice as well as <em>Mass Effect 2</em> did during its January launch in 2010. [<strong>Update:</strong> It sold 943K on Xbox 360 alone, according to Microsoft's <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/aarongreenberg/statuses/190594071188881408">Aaron Greenberg</a>.] BioWare's podium-finish was accompanied by two comparatively less expected releases, <em>Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City</em> and <em>MLB 12: The Show</em>. As per usual, head on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/12/march-npd-mass-effect-3-tops-sales-year-over-year-decline-cont/#continued">past the break</a> for the list of March's top ten best selling titles.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/12/march-npd-mass-effect-3-tops-sales-year-over-year-decline-cont/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>March NPD: Mass Effect 3 tops sales, year-over-year decline continues</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/12/march-npd-mass-effect-3-tops-sales-year-over-year-decline-cont/">March NPD: Mass Effect 3 tops sales, year-over-year decline continues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Apr 2012 18:37:00 EST. Instead of attending the massive event, Nintendo will be hosting "a number of sampling events throughout Germany" allowing fans to try out the Wii, 3DS and, of course, the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@wii-u">Wii U</a>.<br /><br />Nintendo's absence is notable for a couple of reasons. First, the company always attends the convention. Second, skipping the largest games convention on the planet seems like a strange choice, especially given that Nintendo is releasing a brand new console later this year. Gamescom 2011 drew in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/21/gamescom-2011-welcomes-275-000-attendees/">275,000 attendees</a> from around the globe. That's a lot of hearts and minds that could be swayed with a little hands-on Wii U time. To put that in perspective, see the video above? That was Gamescom 2011. Now imagine all those people not playing a Wii U.<br /><br />Nintendo's statement regarding the matter - which sheds no light on the company's reasoning - can be found after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/12/nintendo-not-attending-gamescom-2012/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo not attending Gamescom 2012</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/12/nintendo-not-attending-gamescom-2012/">Nintendo not attending Gamescom 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Apr 2012 15:30:00 EST. The images offer a few details about the game, which has so far been contained in a Pokeball of silence. <em>Black and White 2</em> takes place two years after the first and will be set in Unova, part of which seems to be frozen. The game kicks off in a new area, Hiougi City. Intrinsic Games, creator of DSiWare's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/divergent-shift"><em>Divergent Shift</em></a>, is doing just that.<br /><br /><em><a href="http://intrinsicgames.com/Games/Amoebattle">Amoebattle</a></em> is a simple RTS in which you control a group of amoebas in a microscopic campaign. Originally designed as a DS game, the iPhone version made it to market first -- it's available from the <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/amoebattle/id482263303?ls=1&amp;mt=8">App Store</a> today for $5. The DSiWare version has been approved by Nintendo and will be released soon, though there's no specific date yet.<br /><br />Intrinsic seems to be developing "iOS/DSiWare" into a full-on business model; a previous App Store release, <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/penguin-patrol/id458801423?mt=8"><em>Penguin Patrol</em></a>, is due for release on DSiWare <a href="http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&amp;id=174861">tomorrow</a>. All are published by Grab Games, who recently acquired Intrinsic.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/04/amoebattle-on-app-store-today-dsiware-coming-soon/">Amoebattle on App Store today, DSiWare version coming soon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Apr 2012 17:30:00 EST.
